Carol Ann Gilley, 55, passed away on Oct. 26, 2019. She was born in Bar Harbor on Jan. 28, 1964, the daughter of Reginald and Nancy Gilley. She graduated MDI High School in June of 1983.
Carol Ann worked as the manager of Castlemaine Inn for many years, and Bar Harbor Manor for the latter half of her career. If there was one thing she loved, it was a clean house. She enjoyed everything involving the outdoors, from fishing and hiking to being in her garden for hours. She was far from shy. She loved her friends and meeting new people. She would openly speak her mind, and would tell it like it was. Her sarcasm and quick wit will be remembered by anyone who knew her. She was a loving and strong mother who would do anything for her kids.
She is survived by her father, Reginald A. Gilley; her two children, Felicia and Travis Tapley, and their spouses, Nicholas Rivers and Sapphire Geiger; her brother, Everett Gilley; her grandson, Mason Tapley; sister-in-law, Anita Gilley; and many other extended family.
She was predeceased by her mother, Nancy Gilley, and her two brothers, Reginald Gilley Jr. and John Gilley.
There was a saying she used to have, “If momma ain’t happy, nobody’s happy.” That stayed true all the way through her life.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at St. Brendan’s Anglican Parish, 176 Harbor Drive, Bass Harbor.
