She was born Aug. 3, 1943, in Stonington, to Charles “Nipper” and Nellie “Kent” Ranquist. Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, Rodney Tozier, and her five children: daughter Susan Parsley and husband, Kenni, of Bernard; daughter Sandra Williams and husband, Ross, of Cumberland; son Lawrence Tozier and wife, Stacy, of Sullivan; son Dean Tozier and wife Debby, of Bass Harbor, and daughter Sharon Gilley and husband, Michael, of Bass Harbor.
She is also survived by her sisters Elaine (Ranquist) Overlock and Rosalie Ranquist. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother and sisters: Herbert, Elbert, Charles, James, Carlton, Frederick, Freda and Beverly. She is also survived by many precious grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was survived by many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.
Betty grew up on Swan’s Island. She graduated from Pemetic High in 1961 as salutatorian of her class. She was blessed being able to stay home raising all five children. Later in life, she worked at Reeds Store, then Gotts Store. She was known for her warm smile greeting everyone.
A service will be held Feb. 28, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Tremont Congregational Church, Bass Harbor. A private interment will be held in the spring on Swan’s Island.
