Barbara R. Fleming (Rapp), 86, of Clearwater, Fla., passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022, at Countryside Rehab in Florida.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1935, in Saltville, Va. She married William (Bill) D. Fleming on Sept. 19, 1982, in Richmond, Va.
She loved golf, interior design, hosting a bed and breakfast, house renovation, jewelry making and design and singing in the choir at the Church of our Father and earlier Episcopal churches dating back to 1973.
She was self-employed as an interior designer most of her career outside of raising her two boys and being a housewife.
Barbara was raised in a tiny southwestern town in Virginia called Saltville. She was a small-town girl who never forgot where she came from and enjoyed an expansive life in Virginia, Maine and Florida. She cherished her friendship with many and made friends easily throughout her life.
She graduated from Richmond Polytechnic Institute, now Virginia Commonwealth University, with a Bachelor of Arts in interior design. She was an accomplished golfer and played in several pro-amateur tournaments including the Sears Women’s Classic, where she placed second place.
She is survived by her children, David S. Perry Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., and J. Stephen Perry and Amy M. Perry of Clearwater, Fla.; and grandchildren Aaron Perry, Dylan Perry, Jack Perry and Wade Perry.
She was predeceased by her husband, William D. Fleming.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., June 25, at Church of Our Father, 91 State Highway 3, Hulls Cove, ME 04644. A reception will be held at Sue Olsen’s home.
