Barbara B. Gaunt, 95, of Andover, Mass., died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at Atria Marland Place in Andover, Mass., surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 22,1925, in Bar Harbor to the late Harry E. and Florence B. (Emery) Benedict.

She attended the University of Maine, Orono and the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. She spent most of her working years as executive secretary to several Andover town managers. She volunteered many hours over the years at Christ Church in Andover serving on the Altar Guild and managing the Andover Thrift Shop, among other committees. She was one of the original members of the service organization the Andona Society. Barbara and her late husband, Charlie, enjoyed many years of fun and relaxation with their family and friends at their summer home on Ossipee Lake in New Hampshire. Barbara was an avid reader and was always up to date on news and current events. She enjoyed traveling and any kind of puzzles. She also loved all animals but especially kitties.

Barbara was the widow of the late Charles S. Gaunt, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. She is survived by her son John E. Gaunt and his wife, Kathie, of Andover, Mass., and her daughter Helen Gaunt Briggs of North Andover, Mass.; her grandchildren Jill Ferris and husband, Garrett, of Methuen, Mass., Lisa Crews and husband, Andrew, of Johnson, Vt., and Jeff Gaunt and his wife, Katie, of Methuen, Mass; and her great-grandchildren Ian, Meghan and Brendan Ferris of Methuen, Charlotte and Abbie Crews of Johnson and Ryan and Lucas Gaunt of Methuen. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Everyone who knew her loved her for her thoughtful, caring ways. She enriched the lives of everyone she knew and loved.
