BAR HARBOR — Barbara Anne Garber (Pip), 83, died peacefully on April 21, 2015, in Palm City, Fla., at home with her loved ones. She was born March 21, 1932, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Harry Bishop and Isabel C. (Walls) Bishop; sister of Harry Bishop Jr. and Florence Bennett.
Barbara graduated from Bar Harbor High School, Class of 1950, and majored in English at Bowdoin College. She was an avid reader and a lifelong advocate of animal welfare.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Ralph Garber of Palm City, Fla.; son Robert Joseph Garber, of Winthrop, Mass.; daughter, Michele Garber of Somerville, Mass.; grandson, Eric C. Boucher his wife, Monica J. Boucher, their children, Sebastian C., Alana J. and Savannah A., Boucher of Roslindale, Mass.; sister-in-law, Margaret E. Bishop of Bar Harbor, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
