He graduated from Bar Harbor High School, Class of 1948, Colby College, Class of 1952, and attended MIT during his USAF career (1952–1962). A longtime Revere, Mass., resident, he retired from the National Weather Service in Boston in 1985. He was intelligent and witty, and liked to tinker in the garage and flirt with the ladies. He was an avid fan of Stephen King and Robert Parker books, and enjoyed Bond movies and historical documentaries. He loved popovers, mincemeat pies, coffee brandy and peanut butter ice cream. He was a proud patriot and Korean War veteran.
He is loved and will be missed by his four daughters, Karen (Boisvert) Dickson, Susan Lindsey, Mary Ellen (Cardello) Ingersoll, and Julie (Decker) Schelske. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Shanelle Lindsey, Daniel Cardello and wife, Kelly, Jaimie Cardello, Cody Decker; and great-granddaughter, Ayanna Lindsey-Johnson. He also leaves behind former wife and cherished friend, Shirley Springer James. He was predeceased by his parents, Arnold M. James and Marietta Mitchell (Hatch); and his first love, Rosemarie A. Ferrante James.
