MOUNT DESERT – Alfred “Jerry” Gerald Hartson, 67, died Jan. 19, 2015. He was born June 25, 1947, in Syracuse, N.Y., the son of Robert C. and Harriet L. (Graham-Huey) Hartson.
Jerry attended the University of Vermont and received his BA in Environmental Sciences. After he moved to Maine, he worked in carpentry, and later as a caretaker for private estates. He was a member of the Somesville Union Meeting House, UCC.
Jerry is survived by three sons: Peter M. Hartson and wife, Heather Carlisle, of Trenton; Jesse R. Hartson and wife, Tara, of Hancock; and Luke P. Hartson, of Boston; a brother, Robert C. Hartson and wife, Donna; sister, Dorothy A. Hartson, all of Meredith, N.H.; two grandchildren, Kaleb and Jacob; a nephew, Robert C. Hartson III and wife, Amy; niece, Rebecca L. Hartson.
Friends are invited to visit with the family, 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held 10 a.m. Jan. 31 at the Somesville Union Meeting House, UCC, 1134 Main St., Mount Desert, with Rev. Victor Stanley officiating.
