MOUNT DESERT — Depending on the weather, the turn lane for northbound traffic on Route 102 at the intersection with Route 198 in Somesville is expected to be open by the end of this week or early next week, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

The project, which has been dubbed by some as “Somesville’s big dig,” includes the installation of new traffic signals, rebuilt sidewalks and a pedestrian traffic signal.
