ELLSWORTH — Two men accused of stealing a skiff from a dock in Seal Harbor and rowing it to Sutton Island, where they broke into summer homes, were indicted last week by a Hancock County grand jury.
Michael Philippon, 23, of Bangor and Sammuel Larrabee, 18, of Ellsworth were indicted June 9 for charges stemming from an Oct. 25 burglary spree on Sutton Island, which is part of the Cranberry Isles.
Philippon was indicted on three counts of burglary, three counts of criminal trespass, three counts of theft and a single count of criminal mischief.
Larrabee was indicted on two counts of burglary, two counts of criminal trespass, two counts of theft and a single count of criminal mischief.
Philippon became a suspect after Mount Desert police connected him with the theft of the skiff. A resident reported Oct. 25 that his skiff was missing. Later that day, the boat owner reported the skiff was back tied up at the dock.
The two men allegedly caused damage to the homes and took items, including alcoholic beverages.
Philippon and Larrabee are charged with Class B burglary and, if convicted, face up to 10 years in prison.
A 63-year-old Bar Harbor man was indicted on drug possession and intoxicated driving charges.
Robert Robinson was indicted on one count of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, two counts of criminal operating while under the influence and one count of driving to endanger. Robinson was arrested in August of last year by Bar Harbor police. According to police, Robinson allegedly was in possession of heroin at the time of his arrest.
