BAR HARBOR — WindowDressers, in partnership with Harbor House and the Neighborhood House, needs volunteers to help build window inserts Oct. 10-14 to help Maine residents reduce heat loss through windows.
Volunteer help is needed with the actual assembly of the thermal window inserts. WindowDressers provides all the materials, equipment and training. Training to complete the making of a window takes only 15 minutes, about as long as it takes to assemble a window.
The process is very simple and possible for all ages and experience levels. It involves wrapping, taping and shrinking the polyolefin on prefabricated pine frames.
This year’s build will take place at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church and suggested shifts run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Tuesday and Thursday will have extended evening shifts from 4-8 p.m.
Any amount of time one is willing to give is much appreciated. Sign up with The Neighborhood House in advance by contacting Anne-Marie Hart at 276-5039 or [email protected].
