Welcome Tabor to the world

Tabor Walker Staples came into this world at 1:13 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, and was the 13th baby born this month at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. The lucky parents of this bundle of joy, who arrived at 7 pounds, 10 ounces, 19 and 3/4 inches long, are Kyle and Autumn Staples. Kyle is the son of Swans Islanders Dusty and Tammie Staples. Tabor’s other grandparents are Eve Young of Hulls Cove and Jason Lovejoy of Mount Desert. The great-grandparents are Libby Lovejoy of Seal Cove, Arnold Krommenohl of Mount Desert, and Martha Reed, Donald Staples and Bonnie Staples of Swans Island. Tabor also has many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives who are thrilled with his arrival. Sounds like Tabor is the lucky one!

It was a stormy night, but over 40 people showed up at the lighthouse for Gary Rainford’s recent poetry reading. We thank Martha Bryan for organizing this event, George Kuck and John Bryan for providing shuttle service, and Deputy Sheriff Rob Moran for traffic control. As always, Gary inspired ponderings, tears and laughter from his audience, but how many of us knew about his great singing voice?

We are all missing Tiny, Vanessa Leigh May’s 2-year-old female Boston terrier that has been missing from Stanley Point Road since Sunday, Aug. 2. She is an adorable black-and-white, 12-pound, shy (do not chase!) dog, and she is wearing a collar. She was spotted running around Kathy and Rusty Burns’ house this past week, but she would not respond when called. She is most likely terrified and hungry, so please keep an eye out for her, as well as some food scraps if possible. Please call Vanessa at 479-3433 with any information.

Bev McAloon shares with us, “Baptist Church members want to thank all who helped make salads, desserts, helped set up, served food and cleaned up for our three church suppers this year. Thank you so much. The money given will be used to complete the modernization of the church kitchen just as Dorothy Stockbridge wanted!”

Happy birthday to Tabor Walker Staples, Nevora Stanley, Ho Youn “Lily” Ellison, Jeffrey L. Ellison, Jarid Wheelock, Gavin Robinson and Kimberly Ray Banks. Anniversary blessings to Max and Meredith Creswell, Chris and Lindsay Carlson and Gary V. and Angela J. Tapley. A special 50th wedding anniversary blessing goes to John and Martha Bryan.
