SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Island Readers & Writers (IRW) has elected Hannah Whalen and Allison Kupfer Poteet to its board of directors.
“These thoughtful, talented women bring to the board an abundance of skills and experiences that will help lead IRW into the future,” said Executive Director Jan Coates.
Whalen has served as campaign manager for The Downeast Family YMCA and The Neighborhood House and was the director of development at Bar Harbor’s Abbe Museum and the corporate relationships manager/major gifts officer at the University of Maine-Orono. She is currently the senior foundation officer at Maine Community Foundation. Whalen is a resident of West Tremont.
Kupfer Poteet is the vice president of the Nonprofit Professionals Advisory Group, with a significant track record in placing transformative leaders in areas such as youth development/education, program development, operations, administration and financing. She is the co-chair of Human Capital Network, an initiative of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy, and has served as senior associate at Isaacson, Miller and senior analyst at ABT Associates. She resides in Cape Elizabeth.
IRW’s mission is to inspire a passion for reading and learning among children living on Maine’s coastal islands and mainland communities in Washington County.
