Terminal outage planned

From the Swans Island Ferry Terminal, Jane Savage sends this important message: “There will be an extensive outage beginning on Sunday, Jan. 10, at 9 a.m. and lasting until 5 p.m. while the state of Maine upgrades its network. What does this mean? 1. All Agency access will not be available (this includes all applications and all internet access); 2. For Swans Island and Bass Harbor customers, this means our ticket program will not be functioning, and we will be using old-style tickets. It also means we will not be able to do charges, will not be able to take credit cards and will not be able to make reservations – just cash or check transactions. Please plan accordingly, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience; 3. In the event of a snowstorm or other unforeseen circumstance, two contingency dates have been set: Sunday, Jan. 17 and/or Sunday, Jan. 24.”

I think I have the best dog-sitters in the universe – or at least the state of Maine. I am so grateful to Sarah Jae MacDonald and Reese and Carson Morang for setting my mind at ease while visiting relatives and friends over 1,000 miles away. Thank you for helping me to have a fantastic Christmas.

Don’t forget that the next senior luncheon is Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 11:30 a.m. in the school cafeteria.

A Swans Island veterinary clinic will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Atlantic Fire Station. Rabies shots are $15, if that is all you are needing that day. Other services will be available as usual. Gwen May says, “If you are getting your dog current on his/her rabies shots, I will hold off on the fine due to my not being open on Feb. 1. Call me if you can’t make it then so I will not charge the $25 late fee.”

Happy birthday to Dori Ann LeMoine, Maili Bailey, Melanie Carlson, Holly Brianne Kitchen, Lesley M. Harris, Grant McKay Joyce, Samuel J.D. Joy, Gary V. Tapley and Joshua Joyce. Anniversary blessings to Norman K. and Nancy Burns and Josh and Sarah Joyce.
