Swans Island shore cleanup set

Congratulations to Anna and Nathan Ward upon the birth of Evelyn Belle Ward. Born on Thursday, July 12, at 2:14p.m., Evelyn weighed in at 9 pounds 5 ounces and measured 20 inches in length. According to Aunt Leah Staples, new mother Anna says of Evelyn, “She’s the most perfect thing!”

Bev McAloon invites us to the July supper at the Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 25; seating times are 5 and 6 p.m. “Supper from the sea” will feature seafood chowders, seafood casseroles, vegetarian dishes, delicious salads and desserts (some gluten-free). The cost is $10 per person for ages 12 and older; a donation for children under 12 is greatly appreciated. Bev notes that for island summer residents, there is plenty of time to enjoy the meal before their meeting.

Rob Morang informs us: “We have some exciting news! The Seacoast Mission is sending the Sunbeam out to Swans Island on Thursday, July 19. They will be coming with 20-25 volunteers to help with trash pickup. The focus of this effort will be the shoreline in several areas. I am the contact on Swans Island for this event. The Mission is providing contractor bags. The Mission would love to have people join them in picking up the trash. Their arrival is planned for 10 a.m. at the Quarry dock and they will be leaving by 2 p.m. Please wear gloves and bright-colored clothing. Please do not wear sandals. Also, please be aware of ticks as we will be working in wooded and grassy areas.”

Karen Preston Griffin reminds us: “Please note that no dogs are allowed on Fine Sand and Carrying Place beaches from June 15-Sept. 15 during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.”

Jeanne Hoyle notifies, “To all crafters interested in the participating in the Annual Summer Bazaar held at the library, please hold the date of Thursday, July 26, open for this event. The bazaar will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. More details are forthcoming.”
