Swan’s Island: Scholarship support available for permanent residents

Karen Preston Griffin informs us about financial support for educational opportunities: “Swan’s Island Educational Achievement Trust Fund applications are available in the Town Office. The trust fund was established in 1997 to provide scholarship support for permanent residents of Swan’s Island who wish to further their education beyond high school at college, vocational or technical schools. Email the town office at [email protected] or call (207) 526-4279 for more information.”

Donna Wiegle notifies us that “Dr. Timothy Oh and staff from Caring Hands of Maine Dental Center will be coming out to the Mill Pond Health Center on Friday, Feb. 5. Call their office at 667-6789 for an appointment. They will be practicing COVID safety measures to keep patients safe. All patients must wear a mask to enter the health center and while in the waiting room. Patients will be instructed when to take their masks off when you they are safely in the exam room.”

Rep. Genevieve McDonald sends word to answer vaccination questions: “Are you wondering when you will be able to receive a COVID-19 vaccination? As Maine receives shipments of COVID-19 vaccines, they will be distributed following a phased approach that is based on recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. The Maine CDC will be communicating directly with employers, medical providers and the public as the state moves through the phases so that people will know when and how to access the vaccine. For more information, visit maine.gov/covid19/vaccines.”

Katelynn LeMoine reminds us that the next Swan’s Island Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Rick DuBois is Saturday, Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Dr. DuBois’ house in Minturn. “Traveling toward the Minturn loop, Rick’s house is the second house on the right after the Mill Pond Health Clinic. If you have any special requests, please call the Dexter office at (207) 924-3462. Dr. DuBois brings routine clinic items, shots, medications and preventive care items. It is mandatory to wear a mask in order to enter the clinic! Only one person will be allowed in at a time; this means that there will most likely be a line, so please go by the honor system and don’t cut in front of those ahead of you.”

Happy birthday to Annette S. Joyce, Jill Trask, Benjamin Treadwell, Eric Alen Carlson, Fiona Abigail Robinson, Phoebe Adelle Robinson, Zuzannah LeMoine, Teressa Rozenski, Erika Rhile, Howard Dentremont and Tammy Tripler. Anniversary blessings to Galen and Jennifer Turner and Jim and Sharon Stone.
