Sunbeam takes communion – to Frenchboro

Douglas Cornman, interim replacement for Rob Benson on Sunbeam, invites Swans Islanders to join the crew of the vessel as they venture to Frenchboro for morning worship on Sunday, Feb. 8. The nondenominational service will include Holy Communion, and Rev. Scott Planting of the Maine Sea Coast Mission will deliver the sermon. All are invited, and lunch aboard Sunbeam will follow the service. Sunbeam will board at 9:45 a.m., and space is limited. Please contact Douglas Cornman at [email protected] or 479-0707 if you would like to join them.

Nancy Carter informs us that the Swans Island Baptist Church will have children’s Sunday school at 10:15 a.m. in the church annex. All are welcome, and if a child needs a ride, please call 526-4198. Although services take place in the Advent Church every other week, Sunday school will meet every week at the Baptist Church.

We extend our condolences to John Grace and his family upon the passing of his wife of 44 years, Carolyn S. Robbin Grace. In 1992, John and Carolyn founded the Atlantic Blanket Company of Swans Island, creating their award-winning blankets. She will be missed by many Swans Islanders.

Don’t forget to order early your Valentine’s Day flowers from Tammy Tripler’s Island Dreamweaver Flowers. Stay tuned for her announcement regarding this year’s Valentine’s Day contest.

Thanks to all the fine folks who have plowed, shoveled and checked-in with their neighbors who are unable to do these things. You know who you are, and there are many “angels” on our island. What a great community we have!

Happy birthday to Bailey Fallica, Lottie Belle Uber and Steve Wheaton. Anniversary blessings to Jason and Jamie Matthews.
