MOUNT DESERT — A Mount Desert Island summer tradition since the bicentennial year of 1976, the 40th Annual Strawberry Festival will be held at the Somesville Fire House on July 7, from 2-4 p.m. The festival serves strawberry shortcake made with beautiful ripe Maine strawberries and whipped cream. The strawberry shortcake recipe has been handed down through the years and is always delicious.
A limited supply of fresh strawberries will be available for sale by the quart. This year, the event will be co-hosted by the Seal Cove Auto Museum and the Mount Desert Island Historical Society, and funds will support the educational missions of these organizations. Come enjoy a delicious summer dessert and get a close-up view of a brass era automobile on site.
