TRENTON — The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Hancock County recently received a $10,000 grant from the Belvedere Animal Welfare Fund to expand its spay and neuter programs within Hancock County.
“This will allow us to increase the availability of spay/neuter services beyond current offerings. That included more than 400 animals last year,” said Diana de los Santos, SPCA Hancock County Director. “Spay/neuter continues to be one of the most important missions of our organization. We cannot thank enough those who support us in this work, including the Belvedere Animal Welfare Fund,” de los Santos added.
Created in 2007 by an anonymous donor, The Belvedere Animal Welfare Fund supports organizations and programs that address population control in cats and dogs. Managed by the Maine Community Foundation, the fund is further supported by the Doree Taylor Charitable Foundation.
