Our Selectman Sonny Sprague is a great-grandfather! Congratulations to Mike and Jamie Hodgdon of Surry on the Dec. 6 birth of Nevaeh Brylie Hodgdon. Nevaeh weighed 8lbs., 9oz. and measured 22.5 inches. I’m certain she’ll be spoiled by her doting great-grandfather.
Gwen May conveys gratitude from all of us: “Thank you to the Wreaths Across America for donating 90 wreaths for our island veterans’ graves. Also, thank you to Deputy Sheriff Rob Morang for setting it up and for the six kids [Olivia Joyce, Sarah Jae MacDonald, Sage Dentremont, Johnny Rozenski, Jackson Laws, Brad Pelkey] who gave up a Saturday morning to get out of bed and help put the wreaths out. There were three veterans and four veteran’s widows there to help, as well as one or two others. It was a job well done.”
Congratulations to Gary Hoyle, who has been chosen by David Little to be one of the artists in the book “Art of Acadia” by Carl and David Little. Gary’s oil painting “Bass Harbor Lights” will be included. The book is expected to be in stores by next summer.
We have another lovely wreath on Captain Henry Lee thanks to our island friend Lance Bishop. Both he and Tammy Tripler have spread much holiday cheer with these adornments to our ferry.
Although we did not have our Community Christmas Gathering this year, I thank all those who were willing to help with the event, especially Kenny Ranquist, who always goes the extra mile in helping. I’m looking forward to resuming the event next year.
Happy birthday to Grace Rose LeMoine, Ella Joyce, McKayla Joyce, William James Smith, Austin James LeMoine, Thomas Uber, Gavin Stuart Savage, Belinda Doliber and Mary Christine Joy.
