I recently had a lovely conversation with Spencer Rose and his mother in the Town Hall parking lot. Spencer has amassed an impressive amount of knowledge about cars, and I was all too happy to answer his questions about my new Kia. I was even more delighted to discover that the Rose family has moved back to the island and wish to extend a warm “Welcome Home” to Jaime, Ed, Spencer and Laura.
Brandi Morang has a great Christmas gift or stocking-stuffer idea: “Are you a last-minute Christmas shopper? Or did you forget someone? Oops!! No worries!! Give me a call to purchase a gift certificate for a haircut or new do. Call me at 667-8208.”
Another gift idea that even gives back to the giver is a donation toward the Swans Island Ambulance fund. Our EMTs, first responders and firefighters are a tremendous help to islanders and visitors alike, and an ambulance must be purchased soon to help them continue to provide their services. Consider making a tax-deductible gift before the end of the year, a gift to the community and to yourself! Contact Debbie Staples for more information.
Jeanne Hoyle informs us that the Baptist Church is having a community Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, with Rev. Joshua Greene leading the service.
Dexter Lee poetically relays to us: “Transfer Station News-/ The oil trailer is back./ The Transfer Station will be closed Christmas Day.” Yes, I think our island poet laureate, Gary Rainford, perhaps has a rival?
Merry, Merry to everyone!
Happy birthday to John Follis, Jane Stanley, Tom Duchesneau, Morgan Michele Matthews, Gabriel Owen Staples and Judson Cease.
