Ranquist honored for 30 years of service

By the time you are reading this column, the island most likely will have undergone a planned electrical outage. The planned power outage Thursday, Oct. 16, is to allow for the decommissioning of the old switching station by the ferry terminal and the connecting of the undersea cables to the new switching station. We thank the cooperative and others like Jenna Turner for getting the word out in advance of this event.

Although it is only October, preparations are already underway for the next Community Christmas Gathering at the Swans Island Baptist Church on Sunday, Dec. 14. Two friends of Swans Island (and of many Frenchboro residents) were married this past weekend. Eric and Casandra (Engstrom) Beals have volunteered their time and talents in the past by conducting trumpet and trombone workshops with the students at our school and by performing at our Community Christmas Gatherings and other events where music was involved. We wish them many years together filled with blessings and look forward to them visiting our island again.

Happy birthday to Barbara Tozier Matthews, Lisa Stanley, Lucas Richard LeMoine, Wesley Staples II and Jack. Wedding blessings to Eric and Casandra Beals, who were married on Saturday, Oct. 11. Anniversary blessings go to Bruce and Julie MacDonald and Gilley and Patty LeMoine.
