Pet portraits help SPCA

Looking for an awesome gift for yourself or someone who loves their pet? Talented artist Jessica DeFrenn creates beautiful “pawtraits,” 11-by-14-inch ink portraits of your pet for $66; $6 from each portrait is donated to the Hancock SPCA. You can contact Jessica at 664-9715 or [email protected]

Fran Chetwynd thrills us with the latest lighthouse news: “It’s official. The apartment in the keeper’s house is available for rental next summer. The upstairs apartment has a spacious bedroom with a double bed, with views across Burnt Coat Harbor to Minturn. The living room overlooks the Western Way to the east and has long views out to sea, with Marshall Island and Isle au Haut visible to the southwest. There is a small but fully equipped kitchen, and the bathroom has a tub and a handheld shower.” Visit www.swansislandvacations.com, click on Rental Listings and look for ‘Lightkeeper’s House.’”

Donna Wiegle shared an important resource with us: “Hancock County’s Healthy Acadia is sharing their 34-page ‘Recovery Resource Guide’ online. Information included in this guide includes resources for substance abuse, domestic violence, housing assistance, education opportunities and more. If you need help turning your life around, you will probably find that help in this guide.”

Dexter Lee informed us that there will be a public hearing for the proposed ATV ordinance in the library on Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. A copy of the proposed ordinance can be found on the town website.

Bev McAloon encouraged us to mark our calendars for Christmas caroling on Sunday, Dec. 18, in the afternoon. She will provide more details in December.

Happy birthday to Pat Dutille, Lesley Ann Ranquist, Rhonda Ranquist, Suzy Treadwell, Dan Hersey and Keisha Kelliher. Anniversary blessings to Bud and Heidi Martin and Adam and Theresa Joy.
