ACADIA NAT’L PARK — Beginning this week, crews will begin removing snow from the Park Loop Road and other snow-covered access roads using plows and other heavy equipment in preparation for opening.
Visitors walking or skiing on the motor road network should be aware that they may encounter park vehicles and heavy equipment at any time of the day and at any place, but crews won’t be out there on weekends.
In a normal year, the Park Loop Road would open on April 15, but delays in opening the roads are expected due to the heavy snow and slow melting that is occurring.
Park crews will open sections of road as they are cleared and safe for travel. Please check the park website, www.nps.gov/acad, for updates to the status of road conditions.
