Nonprofit leaders meet

Phil Whitney, Tom Powell, Ingrid Gaither and Darlene Sumner attended a three-day leadership seminar sponsored by Island Institute in Belfast. The seminar was designed to help nonprofit organization leaders more effectively manage and develop their organizations. Everyone enjoyed the seminar and had plenty of opportunity to either renew old acquaintances or make new friends with other islanders, and to thoroughly discuss the challenges of island life as related to sustaining and improving their respective organizations. Twenty-three islanders attended. Many thanks to Scott Bracy for transporting everyone back to Cranberry on a stormy Sunday afternoon.

Monday Music Nites at Cranberry House Arts Center will start Jan. 11 at 5:30 p.m., organized by Darlene Sumner and Karin Whitney. See the poster at the Post Office for further details. Bring an instrument and learn how to play it, utilizing DVD instruction.

A big happy birthday to Helen Dudman on Jan. 13, Liam Carroll Astbury on Jan. 15 and Averi Rose White on Jan. 16.

Also, congratulations to Jessi Duma who just adopted a new puppy named Junie!
