Love boat is back

The love boat has landed, and many engagement congratulations are in order. Ferry terminal agent Darlene Harper now sports a lovely ring from her betrothed Scotty Briggs, Anna Joy said “yes” to Nate Ward, and we once again have a Joy-Joyce union with the engagement of Amelia Joyce and Sammy Joy. We wish all of these couples many marital blessings.

Wade Shaefer informs us, “If anyone is interested in martial arts, I have started Tae Kwon Do classes at the Church of God on Saturdays. I have a new class starting for beginners on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 3-4 p.m. It is $25 per month, per student. If there are any questions, you can call me at 794-5808. Ages are basically 8 to adult. Any younger than 8, we can talk and see.”

Clay Savage reminds us that Bible study at the Methodist Church annex has resumed and is at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday evening. Leah Staples likewise reminds us that adult volleyball in the school gymnasium has started up again on Monday nights from 7-9 p.m.

Brian Krafjack relays to us, “The new winter (sigh) hours at TIMS are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Takeout will be open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m Monday through Saturday and closed on Sunday. Every Friday is Pizza Friday from 4-6 p.m. This is a lot to remember, so follow this rule of thumb: If the light is on, come on in!”

Donna Wiegle tells us that the Coffee Hour has started this past Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Mill Pond Health Center. “Everyone is welcome to stop by from 9:30-10:30 a.m. every Saturday through March 26. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and goodies will be served.” Don’t miss this favorite winter social event.

Congratulations to Sheila Doane and Mellard Cook for winning the Christmas light contest.

Happy birthday to Tammie Staples, Galen A. Turner, Spencer Joyce, Molly Bryan Goodwin and Olivia Joyce.
