Local artist offers intro to drawing



BAR HARBOR — Robert Pollien will offer an Introduction to Drawing class on six Thursday nights from April 23 to May 28. The sessions will take place at ArtWaves, 329 Main St., from 6:30-8 p.m.

The course will be an introduction for new students or a review of the fundamentals of drawing for more advanced artists. Students should bring a 14-by-17-inch pad of drawing paper, a kneaded eraser, two Prismacolor Jet Black Ebony pencils and a pencil sharpener or single-edged razor blade to the first class. The series of classes costs $36.

Pollien, of Bar Harbor, earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.

He served as the first artist-in-residence at Acadia National Park and has held numerous residencies and fellowships. He is represented by the Dowling Walsh Gallery of Rockland and Artemis Gallery of Northeast Harbor.
