Lobster boat races, Sunday activities postponed

TREMONT – Mother Nature has put a glitch in the Bass Harbor Days celebration, forcing organizers to postpone activities scheduled for Sunday.

Heavy rain and gale-force winds are predicted, according to Chris Eaton. As a result the organizers decided to postpone the lobster boat races and blessing of the fleet until the following Sunday, July 5.

Saturday’s activities at Gordius Garage and the town wharf are proceeding as scheduled, Eaton said.

The car and motorcycle show at Gordius Garage ends at 4 p.m. A blessing of the cars and motorcycles, was conducted by Rev. Wayne Buchanan of the Tremont Congregational Church.

Food, including barbecued pork, and other refreshments are available. Several musicians also are scheduled to perform.
