Lantern making, walk planned

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — A lantern-making session and lantern walk are planned for the Southwest Harbor Public Library on Nov. 19 and 20.

As the days grow shorter, we start to think about light and ways we can celebrate it. A lantern walk is an observance of the changing season and reminds us that we ourselves can light up dark days.

All are invited to make lanterns on Thursday, Nov. 19, anytime from 3-5 p.m. Supplies will be provided, but bringing a tall, wide-mouth jar would be helpful.

The lantern walk will take place on Friday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m. Participants will meet at the High Road parking lot and walk down Causeway Lane with lanterns lit. On the Causeway Bridge, Brittany Parker and Andrew Simon of the Barn Arts Collective will present a seasonal story. After the walk, at 6 p.m., everyone is invited back to the library for light refreshments and singing. This is a fun family event and all are welcome.

Call the library at 244-7065.
