Keeper’s House available to rent

Rent the Swan’s Island Lighthouse Keeper’s House! When the Lighthouse Keeper’s House is not open to the public, you may now rent it for private events – family reunions, anniversaries, receptions, concerts, lectures, meetings. Tours of the Light Tower also can be arranged as part of your event. All rental income will be used to defray the cost of maintaining the property. If you are interested in scheduling an event at the Keeper’s House, contact Fran Chetwynd, Town of Swan’s Island Lighthouse Committee, at 526-4108, or speak to the site manager, Kimberly Haller, for details.

Join Gary Rainford at the Lighthouse on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. as he delights us with his poetry. Autographed copies of his book “Salty Liquor” will be available for purchase.

Meredith Creswell gives us a hymn sing heads-up for Sunday, Aug. 23, at 6 p.m. at the Advent Church. Many people have been anticipating these hymn sings all summer, but even more so, they have looked forward to Max and Meredith’s arrival to Swans Island.

Jeanne Hoyle informs us that the Swan’s Island Educational Society Annual meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, in the library. All are welcome.

Kudos to all those who made possible our spectacular fireworks display on Wednesday, July 29. Over $1,600 was donated by members of the community for this visual treat. Do I see the beginnings of an annual tradition?

Happy birthday to Ann Marie Maguire, Amara Joyce, Jerry Matthews, Theodore A. Turner, Laura Madison Rose, Linda Camber, Brandon Richard Davis, Sam Dy, Leonard May Sr., Sophia Altha Dy, L.J. Hopkins, Katelynn Riedel, Sheena Greenlaw and Josephine Reagan Walker.

Anniversary blessings to Ed and Jaime Rose and Gavin and Agnes Robinson.
