Jazz at church

Congratulations to Emily Banks, Dorothy LeMoine and Joshua Turner upon their graduation from Mount Desert Island High School. We are very proud of you and consider each of you a success story.

Dori LeMoine conveys what a lot of young folks have been waiting to hear:  “Nighttime Rec is starting up again this summer on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  We welcome ages 13 through 18 for $1 admission each night.

Come play pool, ping pong, basketball, cards and more.  Snacks and drinks are available for purchase.  If you have any questions and/or concerns, feel free to contact me at (207) 479-6766 or [email protected]

Gary Hoyle announces a concert at the Baptist Church: “It’s time for the biannual Scott Cleveland/Phil Kell concert on Swan’s Island at the Baptist Church. Scott Cleveland, piano/voice and Phil Kell, Bass/guitar, will perform a concert of original and reinterpreted blues, R & B, and jazz at the Baptist Church on Sunday, July 1, at 4 p.m. There is a $10 donation that will go to the performers, not to the church. A link to Scott’s soundcloud.com page is https://soundcloud.com/scott-cleveland-piano. Take the ferry over, you’ll love the experience (especially if you have overnight accommodations; otherwise the night spent in your car may not be all that enchanting.) The Swan’s Island Baptist Church has the best acoustics for music I have ever experienced. Please join us.”

The change in operating hours for the solid waste facility (dump) went into effect on May 20. The new hours are as follows:  March 15 to Oct. 15, Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 3 to 6 p.m.; Saturday (July and August only) noon to 3 p.m.  Oct. 16 to March 14, Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1 to 4 p.m. Happy birthday to Liam David Lane, Julia Rose Davis, Siobhan Ryan, Bonnie Hopkins, Colleen Hyland and Stanley David Carlson.  Anniversary blessings to Maili Bailey and Iver Lofving, Kenny and Angie LeMoine, and Tim and Suzy Treadwell.
