Island alums named to dean’s lists



RALEIGH, N.C. — Rebecca Adelaide Planchart of Ellsworth, a 2014 Mount Desert Island High School graduate, made the Dean’s List at North Carolina State University for the fall 2014 semester.

BIDDEFORD — Megan Lucile Dow has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of New England.

Dow, the daughter of Jim and Annette Dow, is a senior at UNE.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Don Parker of Bar Harbor has been named to The President’s List for the fall 2014 semester at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. Parker is studying technical management.

To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile an academic grade point average of 3.7-4.0.

ORONO — Nineteen area residents were named to The University of Maine Dean’s List for the fall 2014 semester. To earn the honors, students had to completing 12 or more credit hours in the semester and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Among those honored were Bar Harbor residents Brittany Bedard, Ryan Cox, Sean Cox, Coleman Fernald, Molly Moon, Elliot Ossanna, Mackenzie Tibbetts and Mary Yarumian; Mount Desert residents Sierra Colson and Elizabeth Woolfolk; Southwest Harbor residents Elizabeth Dunbar, Brandie Dziegiel, Gillian Morrison, Emma Oppewall, Mica Perruzzi and Sarah Stanley, and Trenton residents Brailee Black, Keegan McKim and Tyler McKim.

 CANTON, N.Y. — Noelle A. Reilly of Seal Harbor has been named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement at St. Lawrence University for the spring semester. Reilly is a member of the class of 2015 and is majoring in anthropology and history. Reilly attended Mount Desert Island High School.

CASTINE — Steven Bunker of Trenton was named to the Maine Maritime Academy Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement in the first semester of the 2014-2015 academic year. Students named to the Dean’s List earn a grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale.

FARMINGTON — Jamie McKay of Bar Harbor has been named to the University of Maine at Farmington Dean’s List for the fall 2014 semester. Students must complete a minimum of 12 credits in courses producing quality points and earn a GPA of at least 3.5 to be named to the list.

PORTLAND — Three island residents have been named to the fall Dean’s List at the University of Southern Maine for earning a GPA of 3.4 or higher while taking a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Logan Charles Kendzierski Macdonald of Bass Harbor, Robert Samuel Richard of Mount Desert and Emily Lauren Dunbar of Southwest Harbor were named to the list.

BOSTON, Mass. — Hannah Vaux of Northeast Harbor was named to the Dean’s List at Simmons College for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher while earning 12 or more credit hours. Vaux is an exercise science major.

PRESQUE ISLE — Abigail K. Jewett of Bass Harbor was named to the Dean’s List at the University of Maine at Presque Isle for the fall semester, according to Ray Rice, provost and vice president for Academic and Student Affairs.
