‘Heaven on Earth’ coming soon

The Acadia Choral Society will present its spring concert “Heaven on Earth” at St. Saviour’s Parish in Bar Harbor on Saturday, May 5, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. A third performance will take place at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church in Ellsworth on Sunday, May 13, at 3 p.m. I am the accompanist and assistant director for this ensemble and am honored to perform, among other works, J.S. Bach’s “Jesu, meine Freude,” Mozart’s “Laudate Dominum” and the world premiere of John Rose’s “Happiness.” Our guest conductor for this concert is Sing Rose. Several soloists, string bass, organ and piano combine with the choir to make a concert you won’t want to miss.

Jane Orcutt Savage sends us a reminder from the ferry terminal: “Transportation of gas/fuel oil/diesel cans and propane tanks for personal use must be secured in a well-ventilated vehicle (i.e., pickup), not in the trunk or closed vehicle. The container must be well-secured by rope or similar means to prevent damage, breakage or spillage. A suggestion is that a secured milk crate works well. This is required whether the tanks/cans are full or empty.”

Nancy A. Colbeth is ready to create some fun. “Is everyone ready for summer as much as I am? I have awesome news: We will have the 14th annual Boogie Buddy dance the weekend of Aug. 17-18. Friday evening, the dancers will meet for dinner at the town hall; Saturday is sailing, boating, hiking, kayaking; Saturday evening, we have the potluck, pie auction and dance. We welcome all dancers, friends, family, kiddos … it is an awesome weekend! I will post more detailed information as time nears. We thank all of the islanders that have given us their homes to stay in, land to set up tents, docks to tie up. This benefits the Food Pantry and the Swan’s Island Camp Fund for Children. I give a huge thank-you to Robert and Carrie, my dear friends as well as dance instructors. For more information, you may contact me at [email protected] or my cell at 949-3839.”

Happy birthday to Betsy Matheson, Boston Kenneth LeMoine, Calvin LeMoine, Johnny Rozenski, Donald Carlson and Sarah Jae MacDonald. Anniversary blessings to Steve and Judy Green.
