What goes around the island…

Teaching your children well certainly has its benefits. Back in November 2014, we lauded Chris Sawyer as hero of the week for saving many islanders by running trips on his lobster boat when the ferry was down. This week, Isaiah Sawyer, Chris’ rising ninth-grade son, is his father’s hero of the week; Isaiah used his 21-foot lobster boat, Upgrade, to tow his father’s 45-foot vessel, Peyton Charlotte, from one side of the island to the other side when Chris’ boat had run out of gas. The unfortunate irony is that Isaiah ran out of gas on his return trip back and was helped by another lobsterman. No good deed goes unrewarded!

Summer Night Rec has started. Tyler Philbrook is the director again this year and encourages young people to participate: “Come join other teens for a night of fun activities such as basketball, table tennis, pool and volleyball at the recreational building from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays. Ages 12-18. One dollar admission. Drinks and snacks also will be available for purchase. Please come join us for fun activities and a great environment to interact with peers. Last year was a blast for me and the kids, and I’m sure that this year will be just as fun, if not more enjoyable!”

Congratulations to Tyler Philbrook, who recently made the dean’s list at Husson University.
