‘Garden faeries’ plead for perennial plants

Carol Petraitis shares a request with us: “The garden faeries – Fern Alice Burns, Jill Trask and Brenda Dreyer – are beautifying the front of the library. They are seeking plant donations from avid island gardeners who might be willing to split plants in the fall. Let Jill or Brenda know if you’d like to share (or if you won’t be here in the fall but have plants to share). They are looking for hemerocallis (day lily) stella d’oro and bicolors of yellow and orange and rust and reds; gaillardia x grandiflora (perennial only blanket flower) orange, yellow and rust; echinacea (purple coneflower) all shades; nepeta (catmint); salvias-all shades of purple and blue; rudbeckia; paeonia lactiflora (peony) white and all other colors; coreopsis (tickseed); ladies mantle; purple creeping thyme; and white gooseneck loosestrife.”

Wade Shaefer notifies us of his new appliance service: “If anyone has any appliances that they need looked at, let me know. You can call 922-3200 if you would like to schedule an appointment or if you have any questions. We service washers, dryers, ranges, refrigerators, dishwashers, garbage disposals and central air conditioning units. We look forward to hearing from you.”

The annual meeting of the Friends of the Swan’s Island Lighthouse (FOSIL) will be held at the town office on Monday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. All are welcome.
