Food drive sets record

BAR HARBOR — Area businesses and volunteers helped the annual Hancock County Food Drive to set a collection record.

Almost 14,000 items were donated at 125 food collection sites around the county. The amount of food collected will provide an estimated 11,500 meals. More than $12,500 dollars also was donated, which will buy at least 9,000 additional meals. All of the food and money will be divided between the community meal sites and food pantries that participated.

Among those sponsors were island businesses Brown Family Farm ANP, Church of Our Father, Eager Eye Photography, Geddy’s Pub, Paradis True Value Hardware and Savage Forest Enterprise Inc.
