Electric coop options in report online

Jim Stone, one of our Swan’s Island Electric Coop board members, encourages all coop members from both Swan’s Island and Frenchboro to download, share, talk about and comment on Tom McAloon’s report entitled “Options for Sustainable Delivery of Electric Service to Swan’s Island and Frenchboro.” Tom and representatives from four other unbridged islands were selected to participate in the Collaborative for Island Energy Research and Action (CIERA) program managed by the Island Institute and College of the Atlantic. Tom’s CIERA project was the preparation of this report, which can be accessed through a link found at www.swansislandelectric.com.

Huffing and puffing but no one fell down. Emmie Sawyer reports that she was smiling after a vigorous session of women’s basketball this past week. She encourages other women to join the fun on Wednesday nights from 7-8:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

Susan Sargent informs us that her daughter Natalie, who attends school in Trenton, cheered for Swans Island when they went to play basketball at Trenton. Natalie stated that she was rooting for the island since that is her mom’s home. This obviously excited Peyton Sawyer and Asa Joyce, as well as pleasing their parents. It’s great to have cheerleaders when our teams are away from home. Thanks, Natalie.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Geoffrey James Adams, who passed away on Feb. 3. He spent nearly 50 summers at the family summer home on Swans Island. Visiting hours for family and friends will be from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Jordan-Fernald in Ellsworth. Our sympathy also goes to the many people who loved and were influenced by former Swans Island Elementary School teacher Andrew Frace. Andy passed away at his home in Orono on Jan. 30.

Clay Savage welcomes anyone interested to join him on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the Methodist church annex for a Bible study.

Happy birthday to Christine Dentremont, Steve Green, Victoria Green, Tammy Stockbridge Gott, Bud Martin III and Jackson Laws. Happy belated birthday to Kathy Krafjack. Anniversary blessings to Katie Banks and Matt Wilson and Gary and Laurie Farley.
