Eat well, send kids to camp

Emmie Sawyer shares some delicious news: “The Island Camp Fund Pie/Dessert Auction will take place on Wednesday, July 1, at 6 p.m. in the Church of God Fellowship Hall. Prior to the auction, a chowder dinner, along with salad and rolls, will be served starting at 5 p.m. Donations for the dinner are encouraged and appreciated and, combined with the auction proceeds, will benefit the Island Camp Fund. This fund helps island children attend faith-based camps. If you care to make or donate a dessert, feel free to contact me at 526-4036. The youth group will make phone calls as well in the coming week to seek willing bakers. If you would like more information in regards to camp requirements, please contact any of the following committee members: Clay Savage, Annette Joyce, Donald Carlson, Michael Joyce and Seth Joy.”

Meri Rainford is the island’s newest entrepreneur. Look for Meri’s Ferry Fare serving hot and iced coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate and muffins across from the Swans Island terminal. Meri will set up on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 6-8 a.m.

As they make their way home from their honeymoon, Donald and Marsha Carlson remind us of their Island Reception this Saturday, June 27, at Odd Fellow’s Hall. “Buffet is 6-7 p.m., dancing 7-9 p.m. with introduction and first dance at 7 p.m, and cake cutting and dessert buffet at 8 p.m. Dress is casual, except for us. We’ll be in our wedding clothes!”

Mark your calendars for July 24 and 25 when the Hockamock Players wow us with their summer musical show entitled “Rockabilly at the Palace.” If you like to sing, dance, act, and be silly, I’m certain John MacKay has a part for you, so contact him right away.

Dexter Lee informs us that the Odd Fellow’s Sunday Breakfast schedule has been revised; they are not serving breakfast on June 28 as previously reported, but they have added a breakfast on July 12.

Happy birthday to Hope LeMoine, Earl Lowell, Kimberly Haller, Jenn Atkins Solotaroff, Myron “Sonny” Sprague Jr., Liam David Lane and Julia Rose Davis. Anniversary blessings to Kenny and Angie LeMoine.
