BAR HARBOR — A Hancock County Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is set for Bar Harbor, Mount Desert and Southwest Harbor police departments on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Community members are encouraged to bring in any unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs for this free, anonymous service.
Proper and safe disposal of excess medication helps to decrease the potential for thievery, accidental poisoning or overdose, as well as the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs.
This year’s event comes soon after Earth Day and will reinforce the idea that safe and proper disposal of prescription drugs also helps to protect the environment, particularly the water supply and soils.
The drop boxes are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for anonymous disposal of prescription medications.
Needles and epinephrine pens are not allowed.
