Cruise to benefit the Jesup

BAR HARBOR — Get a new view of Bar Harbor aboard the Acadian Nature Cruise on Saturday, June 20, at 6 p.m., while helping the Jesup Memorial Library. See the Porcupine Islands, Bar Island and the cottages that dot them. This sunset tour is a fundraiser for the library.

Enjoy food and drinks as naturalist Bill Townsend points out the sights, including Champlain Mountain, where the granite for the library’s foundation was taken from George Dorr’s quarry in 1911. Spot some wildlife from the water.

Tickets are $50 each, and all proceeds go to the Jesup. The cruise is two-hours long, and the boat departs from the dock at Atlantic Oceanside Hotel. Tickets can be purchased at the Jesup or online at jesuplibrary.org. Space is limited, and all tickets must be picked up at the library prior to the cruise. The library will stay open late on June 20 to ensure everyone can get their tickets.

The Jesup is a private nonprofit that has served as the public library for the town of Bar Harbor since the library opened its doors in 1911. However, the town provides less than 5 percent of the funds needed by the library to operate each year. This cruise is one of the fun ways that you can help the Jesup fill that gap.
