Cranberry Isles: Fourth of July picnic plans are underway

Memorial Day weekend was rainy and foggy on the Cranberries. The Islesford Neighborhood House Library bake sale moved inside on Saturday but the Memorial Day March on Islesford took place starting at 9 a.m.

Last Thursday, the Dip of the Month Club hit the water at Sand Beach on IslesfordCindy ThomasJoy SpragueBarb FernaldMary E. SchuchRosie Pitkin and Stephanie Alley did the dip before the temperatures dropped. It was warm enough for the crew to spend some time on the beach afterward. The water, however, was still quite cold at around 49 degrees.

Ellen Gellerstedt announced that the Islesford Neighborhood House Association is making plans for an active summer. The Ladies’ Parlor and bathrooms were open as of May 24. Ellen writes “The Board is hoping to encourage the resumption of many traditional events and would welcome your thoughts about new events you would like to organize.” Groups and organizations can reserve space in the Neighborhood House. To reserves space or volunteer, please contact Ellen at [email protected]. “Of course, plans are underway for a Fourth of July picnic!” Ellen says.

The Beal & Bunker Ferry would like to remind everyone that they still require riders to wear a face mask while aboard their vessels. They are quickly running out of disposable masks and would like to ask that riders bring a mask with them. The company will update when they no longer require face coverings aboard the boats. They appreciate everyone’s patience while they navigate through what we all hope is a return to “normal.”
