A Community Christmas Dinner will be held at the Cranberry Island Community Center on Saturday, Dec 15 at 5 p.m. This is a pot luck event with turkey and ham provided. If you have any questions, please see Kelly Sanborn, Ingrid Gaither or Darlene Sumner who are the hostesses of the feast.
The Ladies Aid Christmas Fair will be held Sat, Dec. 8 from 12-2 p.m. at the Cranberry Island Community Center. Clothing, mugs, Rada knives, handmade items, candy, baked goods, calendars, cookbooks, jewelry and bags are some of the items that will be available. A $3 turkey and rice soup with crackers lunch will be served as well as free beverages.
Don’t forget the Annual Christmas Stocking Raffle! Tickets for the raffle are $1 each or 6 for $5. Beal & Bunker leaves Northeast Harbor at 11 a.m. and Islesford at 11:30 a.m. We hope to see you at the Aid on Dec. 8.
Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. we are fortunate to have Holiday movies at Cranberry House again this year! Watch the road side sign for titles and possible Tuesday films as well.
Darlene Sumner will host a series of Bible Study evenings at Cranberry House on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. Dates are Dec. 3, 10, 17 and Jan. 7. Refreshments will be available.

‘Tis the season to produce/edit/submit jolly works! Serious works are also welcome. The 2019 Island Reader welcomes all submissions from all island-related sources. There’s no need to wait for the Dec. 31st deadline to submit poetry, prose, photography, drawings, and/or photos of sculptures/other constructions! Creativity knows no age limits — you can’t be too young or too old to participate.

Correction from last week: Jim Gertmanian will take the service on Dec. 9 on Great Cranberry. On Dec. 16, the service on Islesford will include Scott Planting, from the Maine Seacoast Mission. Tom Powell will be back on Dec. 23rd, scheduled for Islesford in the morning and Great Cranberry in the afternoon. All depending on Ol’ Man Winter’s cooperation.

Friday, Dec. 7th, is the 77th Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
Grace Houghton’s birthday is Dec. 6th, as is Jeanne Smith’s. Eliza Greenman blows out candles on the 7th. Heather Spurling celebrates on the 10th. Happy birthday!
