Council declares April 25 Stand Against Racism Day

BAR HARBOR — A proclamation in support of the YWCA of Mount Desert Island’s Stand Against Racism campaign was signed by town councilors Tuesday. The proclamation resolves that April 23 is declared Stand Against Racism Day. YWCA officials will sponsor a rally in support of the effort on the village green that day.

“We salute the YWCA in its praiseworthy mission to eliminate racial inequalities in employment, health care, housing, human services and other areas that affect the quality of life for our community members,” the proclamation reads.
