Complaint rejected

BAR HARBOR — Councilors consulted with the town attorney in executive session Tuesday about a letter sent to councilors by residents Arthur J. Greif and Donna Mae Karlson.

According to the amended agenda, the letter concerned the conduct of two town councilors. Town Manager Cornell Knight said the letter could not be made public because it also relates to town personnel matters.

Councilors Paul Paradis and David Bowden voluntarily recused themselves from the executive session, town attorney Ed Bearor said.

Following a 45-minute executive session, the council reconvened in their regular chambers. Vice Chair Gary Friedmann resumed the meeting. He said the council had “discussed its duties under the charter as it applies to the facts and circumstances in the Jan. 4 letter addressed to the council from Arthur J. Greif and Donna Mae Karlson.”

The remaining councilors, including Friedmann, Clark Stivers, Peter St. Germain, Anne Greenlee and Burt Barker unanimously approved a motion stating the “alleged facts and circumstances contained in the letter do not warrant further review or consideration by the council.”
