Christmas spirit abounds

Crystal DaGraca, principal of Swans Island School, invites us to a favorite event of many islanders: “Our Swans Island School music teacher, Dan Granholm, has been working hard with all of our students to prepare for their upcoming winter concert. Plan to join them in the school gymnasium at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, for this enjoyable performance.”

Bev McAloon sends along more details about the Christmas caroling on Sunday, Dec. 18. Everyone interested in singing should meet at 1:45 p.m. at the Swans Island Ferry Terminal parking lot, so that the ferry crew receives the first carol of the day. Carolers will then carpool to other caroling places; Bev will have the song books and maps of the caroling route. Afterwards, all are invited back to Bev and Tom’s house for some coffee, tea, nibbles and chowder.

Jeanne Hoyle informs us that the Baptist Church will hold a Christmas Eve service (time to be announced), and a Christmas Day service is planned for 11 a.m.

Emmie Sawyer tells us that the Church of God will hold its Christmas service on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. this year, not on Dec. 25.

Katelynn Riedel announces that the “Battle of the Lights” is on: “Do you think that you have the best Christmas lights in town? Then this is the contest for you! The entry fee is $10 per house/yard and may be given to Chelsea Tripler or Billie-Jo Riedel by Monday, Dec. 19. The winner will be chosen on Tuesday, Dec. 20, and will receive a prize. Proceeds from the contest benefit P.I.K.

Happy birthday to McKayla Joyce, William James Smith, Shaylin May, Thomas Uber, Gavin Stuart Savage, Belinda Doliber and Grace Rose LeMoine. Anniversary blessings to Gary and Cindy Turner.
