Christine Dentremont wins arts fellowship

Congratulations to Christine Dentremont for being one of seven recipients of the prestigious Individual Artist Fellowship from the Maine Arts Commission. Christine received the Functional Craft Arts Fellowship for her fresh, contemporary furniture and useable art items made out of repurposed wood and steel. The grant is for $5,000, and recipients are selected by a panel of jurors who are chosen from out-of-state residents in order to avoid conflicts of interest.

Meredith Creswell not only has an ear for beautiful sounds but also has an eye for decorative masterpieces. The Creswell house in Pennsylvania was a first-place winner in their town’s Christmas decorating contest this year. Congratulations to Meredith and Max.

Gwen May reminds Swans islanders that dog licenses and kennel licenses are due Jan. 1 of each year. Dog licenses are $6 for a neutered dog and $11 if they are intact. Once your puppy turns 6 months old, it is required that you license him or her. Gwen will need to see a current rabies certificate plus a certificate of neutering if it applies. Licenses will be charged a $25 late fee after January 31.

Keisha Kelliher alerts us to a cat with white paws and a dark body, perhaps with stripes, in the area of Roderick’s Head. She found it recently while walking her dogs. If you are missing a similar cat, let her know, and she will share pictures of it with you to determine ownership.

Happy birthday to Mary Anne Young, Paul Joy, Asa Joyce, Zoey Izabella Martin, Jim Wheaton, Holly Brianne Kitchen and Isaiah Matthew Sawyer.
