Broadband study rejected

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — The town will not be participating in a proposed island-wide study of gaps in broadband Internet access and the design of a solution.

Town Manager Don Lagrange and members of the board of selectmen said Tuesday night that Southwest Harbor already has reasonably good broadband coverage and that any expansion should be up to the private sector.

The town’s share of the $52,000 cost of the broadband study and network design would have been about $7,650.
