John MacKay announces the continuation of the movie series started last year with Curley’s Monday Movies. This year will include Humphrey Bogart, John Wayne Western and James Bond series. Meet at the IOOF Hall on Monday nights at 8 p.m.
John also invites us to Friday night Music Jams at the Oddfellow’s Hall: “Come to the Oddfellow’s Hall first floor on Friday evenings at 8 p.m. and bring your voice, guitar, ukulele, banjo, flute, violin, ocarina or anything else and play with others and have a good time. The best way to learn new music and learn to play with others is to do it in an informal jam session.”
Bev MacAloon invites us to join friends for a “Pulled Pork on a Bun” potluck supper at the Swans Island Baptist Church on Saturday, July 11, at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. They also will serve vegetarian entrees, side dishes, salads and desserts. The cost is $10 per person ages 12 and older, and a donation for children under age 12 is greatly appreciated. Proceeds will support the completion of the church kitchen.
Congratulations to Rena Shaefer, who recently graduated from Eastern Maine Community College in the nursing program and is now certified and ready to work at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. We wish her many blessings in her new endeavors.
The Camp Fund Chowder dinner and Pie Auction raised over $2,700! Many thanks go to all those who contributed to this great success and especially to those who extravagantly satisfied their sweet tooths by purchasing a pie.

Gary Rainford will sign and read from his new book “Salty Liquor” at Iver Studio from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14. As this event is up in Iver’s studio, it will take place rain or shine.
Donna Wiegle informs us that a new summer exercise class has begun at the IOOF Hall. The class runs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8-9 a.m. and consists of a mix of Zumba, Hip Hop Abs and Turbo Jam workouts. Adults of all ages are welcome to attend. For those looking for a shorter, more intense workout, T25, a 25-minute intensive cardio workout, will start at 7:30 a.m. sharp on the same days.

Tyler Philbrook notifies us that Night Recreation’s schedule is changing to Tuesday and Friday nights (from Wednesday and Saturday nights), effective immediately. The time of 6-9 p.m. remains unchanged.
