ACADIA NAT’L PARK — The Acadia Centennial Task Force, a partnership of Acadia National Park and Friends of Acadia, has announced the launch of a new website to promote and encourage participation in the yearlong 2016 celebration of the founding of Acadia.
The web address is www.acadiacentennial2016.org.
The site features historical and visitor information about the park, information for organizations and individuals wishing to get involved in the celebration, media resources including an image library of historical and scenic photos, a secure donation platform for gifts in support of centennial projects in Acadia, an Acadia timeline and listings of those already involved, the Acadia Centennial Partners. A second phase of the site, due to launch in June 2015, will add a searchable event calendar for centennial events and a searchable listing of official centennial merchandise and services.
“We are so fortunate to have partners and local communities that recognize the importance of Acadia National Park to the people and to the area’s economy,” said Superintendent Sheridan Steele.
Maine artist Catherine Breer created the centennial logo, featuring an iconic view from an Acadia hiking trail. This logo can be licensed by businesses or stores to create logoed or centennial-themed products.
