This week’s installment of Street Beat we asked people what they would do with $1 million. Here’s what they had to say:
I would want to share it with people, and I would also give some to my kids, and probably put some away for retirement. Try to be smart with it. And maybe a little tropical vacation, too.
The first thing I would do is pay off my kids’ student loans. And then I would give each of them $250,000 a piece – I’ve got two kids – so they could get started in their lives.
I would retire and enjoy life and travel.
Other than going to Iceland, and taking the natural history course at COA that has to do with Mount Desert Island in particular, I would pay off my son’s student loans, pay off my daughter’s college education, go to Europe with her, to every place she wanted to go. And then I would use a lot of it to reinstate full librarian positions in the island schools, because other than Conners Emerson and the high school, we’ve lost people with their Masters in library science. I think that would be a really good way of supporting the community.
