Win for young skipper

MOUNT DESERT — Skipper Sean Beaulieu, Mount Desert Island High School class of 2014, and his family sailed their Pisces 21 Biscuit to victory Sunday in the Henry T. Reath trophy pursuit race held by the Northeast Harbor Fleet Sunday.

The Beaulieus won overall honors as well as the first family and first youth skipper awards, all while sailing the smallest boat in the race.

Henry Brauer and the J-100 Fleetwing took second place. Ken Weg’s Morris 42 Ranger was third overall and first for a senior citizen at the helm. Tom Rolfes’ J-105 Sidewinder was fourth and Joe Weber’s Taylor 49 Dreadnought was fifth. Tucker Charles took non-spinnaker honors sailing Seabiscuit, a Luders 16. Amo Loring was first in the women’s helm category, sailing International One Design (IOD) Auriga.

Tom Fremont Smith and Live Yankee won the IOD Fourth of July series of two races by just one point.

Runner-up John Roberts and Woodie finished third in the first race and first in the second. David Rockefeller and Caribou came in third.
